Twos (24-36 Months)

Our Twos Program provides a stimulating and engaging environment were children can continue to explore and learn through play-based activities. Our curriculum focusses on promoting language development, social skills, early literacy and fine and gross motor skills.

Class Overview

  • Names of Classes: Elephants & Butterflies

  • Days of the Week: Our Twos have the option of two days a week (Tues./Thurs.), Three days a week (Mon./Wed./Fri.), or all five days.

  • Hours: 9-1pm

  • Staff-to-Child Ratio: 2:15

  • Max # of Students: 15 Students

  • Chapel & Family Chapel: Our two’s classes attend chapel once a week on Wednesdays. We also host a Family Chapel once a month and encourage parents and grandparents to join us.

Classroom Layout

Welcome to our twos classroom, where every corner is filled with wonder, curiosity, and the joy of discovery! This carefully designed space is intended to foster a nurturing environment that supports the unique needs and developmental milestones of our toddlers. As educators, we play a crucial role in creating an atmosphere that encourages exploration, imagination and social interaction. Our classroom is thoughtfully organized to accommodate the diverse interests and developmental stages of our two-year-old’s.

Art and Creative Expression:

  • Equipped with child friendly art supplies and easels
  • Low, accessible tables for hands on creative expression.
  • Display boards or walls to showcase children’s artistic achievements.

Reading Nook:

  • Cozy and inviting space filled with age-appropriate books.
  • Incorporation of literacy focused visuals to stimulate language development.
  • Books that spark imagination and conversation with peers and teachers.

Dramatic Play Area:

  • Imaginative play center with props and costumes.
  • Opportunities for children to engage in role playing and sociodramatic play.

Manipulative and Fine Motor Skills Center:

  • Developmentally appropriate toys and puzzles.
  • Table and floor toys for sorting, stacking and building.

Sensory Exploration Station:

  • Tactile materials like sand, water or playdough.
  • Containers filled with items for tactile explorations.
  • Emphasis on sensory experiences to stimulate cognitive development.

Circle Time Area:

  • Central space for group activities, songs and stories.
  • Visual aids for routine and schedule reinforcement.
  • Engaging props and interactive elements to capture attention.

Safety Measures:

  • The classroom layout adheres to safety standards, including rounded furniture edges, secure shelving and age-appropriate materials.
  • Emergency exits are clearly marked, and all staff members are trained in emergency procedures.

Our Schedules & Routines

A structured daily schedule is like a roadmap that ensures smooth navigation through daily activities. It provides children with a sense of predictability and security, knowing what to expect and when.

By setting consistent daily activities we create a reassuring routine that children can rely on. They know that after playtime, it’s time for a story and after that its snack time. This predictability not only fosters a sense of security but also helps children transition smoothly between activities. It strikes a balance that nurtures their cognitive, social and emotional development and enriches their overall growth.

Our Two’s Team

All teachers and staff that interact with the children have undergone and passed extensive background checks, as mandated by state and local licensing requirements. Teaching staff are certified in CPR and First Aid. Our teachers engage in continuous training on the best practices in early childhood education.

Athena Soto Twos Teacher

Athena Soto

Lead Twos Teacher

Athena Soto brings four years of experience in early childhood education to WPPP. She holds an Associate degree and has completed 45 hours of DCF training. Athena loves watching children grow throughout the school year and seeing them become more comfortable, confident, and familiar with the world around them.

Athena believes a classroom should be a safe, fun, and caring environment where children are encouraged to grow independently. She enjoys building her classroom around the individual children she teaches, giving them opportunities to make choices, explore their interests, and develop their own sense of independence. She wants families to know that providing a safe and nurturing environment where their children can thrive is always a priority.

One of Athena’s favorite ways to have fun with her class is through music and dance parties, and a favorite book to share is The Watermelon Seed. She has quickly come to appreciate the strong sense of community at WPPP. Outside of school, Athena enjoys visiting Disney and Universal, reading, spending time with her family and dog, and shares the fun fact that she was born and raised in New Jersey until she was 11 years old.

Sarah Drake - Lead Twos teacher

Lead Twos Teacher

Ms. Sarah is one of our Lead Twos Teacher and has Three years of experience in early childhood education. She holds all required DCF training hours and is CPR and First Aid certified, bringing a caring and attentive approach to her classroom each day.
Ms. Sarah loves watching children grow and thrive, especially during the important infant years. Her teaching philosophy centers on being loving, caring, and responsive, helping each child feel safe, happy, and supported. She believes strong communication with families is key and wants parents to know they can always count on her to stay connected.

She incorporated kindness and character by greeting children with warmth, smiles, and gentle care so they know they are truly happy and loved at school. Ms. Sarah enjoys reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, signing songs with her class, and has
been part of the WPPP family for five months. She values the school’s family-oriented environment and flexibility, which allows her to give her best to both her students and her own family.

Krista Hinson Assistant Twos Teacher

Krista Hinson

Twos Assistant Teacher

Krista Hinson brings three years of experience in early childhood education and a caring, encouraging approach to the classroom. She has completed her 45 hours of DCF training and holds a ParaProfessional Certificate. Krista believes in meeting children where they are and creating a classroom community where every child feels supported, encouraged, and ready to learn.

One of Krista’s favorite parts of teaching is watching children feel a sense of accomplishment and seeing them proudly create something of their own. She believes in maintaining an open-door approach with families and wants parents to know that she cares for the children in her classroom as if they were her own. Kindness, good manners, faith, prayer, and chapel are all important parts of the positive environment she helps create.

Krista enjoys incorporating music and art into the classroom, and some of her favorite children’s books include If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, The Rainbow Fish, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

She is new to the WPPP family and already appreciates the school’s positive environment. Outside of school, Krista loves turtles and enjoys spending time at the beach.

Delaney Pickett Assistant Twos Teacher

Twos Assistant Teacher

Delaney Pickett brings more than six years of experience in early childhood education and a genuine love for helping young children learn and grow. She earned her Associate of Arts degree from Valencia College, has completed her 45 hours of DCF training, and is CPR and First Aid certified. She is also continuing her education at UCF, where she is working toward her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Delaney believes that compassion and patience are key when working with young children. She especially enjoys free play, where she can interact with the children and watch them learn naturally through exploration and play. She considers caring for children a privilege and wants families to know that she truly loves what she does and always wants the very best for each child. Faith is also an important part of her approach, and she begins each day with a prayer asking God to guide her in being the best teacher she can be.

Delaney has a particularly special connection to WPPP—she attended the preschool herself as a child! Now, after approximately five years as a member of the WPPP staff, she loves being part of the community of teachers and families and having the opportunity to watch students grow and even return to teach their younger siblings. Outside of school, Delaney enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and going to Disney.
